Pros

Flexible with your schedule. Its a job in this rough economy.

Cons

Will give you added responsibilty without pay increase. Have to beg for a pay increase. Training is never receieved. Partially reasoning is because operation engineer is not familiar with our individual jobs so he is not aware of how to support us with proper training. The manager has a temper beyond belief. Cares less about the people that work under him. VERY obvious. Supervisors will "throw you under the bus" if they do not like you. Biggest CON is the unethical behavior displayed.

Pros

The health benefits are excellent, and the pay is always on time. Also, it is a large company so others have heard of it and can look it up. The work was somewhat meaningful: helping companies recover from emergencies.

Cons

You can feel like an anonymous drone. Upper level management and even those 1 level above you can treat you like slugs. Many people get promotions or jobs based on who they know, and they are completely unqualified, which is frustrating when you're trying to get something done. A lot of politics between account managers keep things from going smoothly. Every account has a different procedure which makes it difficult to learn and prone to errors. After hours accounts are a nightmare.

Pros

Hard work can be rewarded. Job duties are diverse and never dull. Most positions provide in depth exposure to multiple aspects of business from operations to finance to IT. Buyout by Emcor may be the best thing to happen to this company, as former holding company was joke. USM is a leader in an industry that has enormous growth potential.

Cons

USM has struggled to find its identity as an employer. Some members of upper management in the past have tended to want to be something they are not. Currently company has several upper management members that are in way over their heads and are in the wrong industry. Facilities Maintenance needs a foundation of good people and the company has struggled to replace this with IT and generic processes that do not translate well across clients and employees.
