Pros

The Best in Quality and Standard for EHS and Sustainability Services within this region at least. I came from other competitors, and some of them are just really out to make a quick buck. Although it really depends on which consultant is servicing you, generally at ERM we are taught to "do the right thing".

Cons

Work will take up a major portion of your life. It is fine for young professionals and idealists who are excited at learning new things and executing meaningful projects. Not so fine when you move up and get older. The company is trying to take fish out of water by forcing its 'best' to adapt to Management Consulting types of skills. The challenge is that the 'best' at this company tend to be people with excellent technical skills, who may not be too interested in the Financial side of things.

Pros

ERM provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of industry clients. I learn new things each time I go to a new client's site.

Cons

EH&S consulting is very hand-to-mouth. You won't know what you're doing tomorrow, next week or next month. In environmental compliance auditing, there is no opportunity to collaborate and become part of the solution - you're in and you're out in a few days and once your client comments on the report, you're on your way to the next. After a few months, you feel like you're defined by your billable hours percentage and not by your value as a professional.

Pros

Adoption of the Sustainability strategy has changed the company. The ERM Foundation and numerous Green Teams allow us the opportunity to apply our talents to help communities. Recent investments in employees, like the Emerging Leades program, is awesome. This is a group of talented and committed professionals. A lot of opportunity, both career progresson and financial; however, each individual has to take ownership and drive it.

Cons

The company is not for everyone. It is a very high performing group and those that aren't as committed and passionate can feel left out as they don't receive the same rewards and recognition. There have been a lot of programs (that are good and needed) announced but the delays in implementation and lack of communication can get frustrating.
