      Great flexibility, no real benefits

      Pros

      You can choose which district(s) you want to be a substitute in, and you can pick the days and assignments you want. 4 day a month minimum to remain employed. Can be a slow start at the beginning of the school year (think strictly meeting the minimum) and slow the last month of school. Middle of the year you get plenty of chances to pick up days!

      Cons

      You are not an employee of the district you sub in, so that means snow days and holidays you don't get paid. Sometimes the assignment you pick up gets cancelled which also means no pay.

      Not for Everyone, and Don’t Expect Support from Above

      Pros

      “Easiest” interview/hiring process; if you had a degree you were hired. No prior experience was needed. After spending time at the schools, I can see why this company was desperate.

      Cons

      One 8 hour online training session, which offered hardly any preparation for what you’d actually experience; one of their HR employees had the gumption to send me an email telling me how to do my job after I spent almost several years full time in the schools, and they never spent a day inside a classroom.

      Good Company

      Pros

      The company is a good one to work for. They are flexible and accommodating to their employees.

      Cons

      They don't pay as much where I am as I would like, but I believe that's what the schools have agreed to pay.
