Pros

Decent market rep, good exit opportunities Good culture, which stems from how their sales-force (partners) is (are) incentivized From the Parthenon acquisition, there are some opportunities to work at McKinsey/BCG/Bain level

Cons

Advisory is not mature yet (inefficient knowledge management, inefficient training, inefficient onboarding, inefficient best practice sharing) and is a junk drawer of ex-IBM, ex-Accenture, and ex-Capgemini resources trying to carve their territory

Pros

Having EY on your resume is the best thing that could happen to you in the business/accounting world. That sticks out on my resume anytime I speak with someone involved in the accounting/business world. Finding a job after EY is easy as pie. The benefits offered at EY are pretty good; industry standard I'd say. The resources at EY are head and shoulders above the rest. Everything, from their training courses to their internal software is top of the line. Also, you are surrounded by intelligence. At times it can be overwhelming how smart the people around you are. You take the top students from every high school and put them in the state's best college. The few that don't get weeded out of the accounting major and graduate with their Master's in Accounting apply for jobs with the Big 4. Of those, a handful are hired. So you're surrounded by the best of the best.

Cons

The hours are long. You've heard the rumors before. They are true. You are going to work long and hard. Also, the work can be mundane at time. Especially at entry level positions. You aren't curing people of diseases or saving the world of deforestation. You're looking at excel all day and doing work that very well will never be touched or looked at again. You will likely not feel fulfilled. Although, some people enjoy it.

Pros

I have found the culture at EY to be second to none. The people that we work with and the leaders that we work for are all top notch and often some of the best and brightest in their field. I have personally found the flexibility to be outstanding. Yes, we work hard, but many of us are able to work from home and/or have flexibility of the hours that we work. As long as the work gets done, I find that management doesn't much care whether or not you work a typical 9-5 or finish your work at 10 PM after your kids have gone to bed.

Cons

It is an incredibly complex environment. Our new employee will need to be comfortable asking questions and will need to have patience with themselves as it will take time for them to truly learn our business.
