Pros

Getting to work with a large group of people your age is something many jobs can't offer. All CPA expenses paid for means you can get your exams paid for, get your work experience, get your license, then bounce. As I'm told, putting in any time at a Big4 will anchor your resume for the rest of your career, which is the one silver lining of this experience.

Cons

The way this firm (and all Big4) gaslight you is crazy. It's unfair and most people will get screwed over by difficult engagements, toxic teams, poor scheduling, etc. and be driven to quit and EY does not care. The churn and burn is real and it's abundantly clear we only exist to line the partners' pockets. I started 9 months ago and this job has made me depressed, anxious, and gain weight. At this point I just want to hit 1 year for my CPA work experience and bounce to an industry staff job. I don't know if my mental health can hold up through another busy season.

Pros

Good coworkers and stable income

Cons

Extremely political, top down culture can be a big miss with some partners, no work life balance, you will always be doing work you’re not getting paid for because they don’t hire enough people

Pros

They pay you money for your time. There are nice extras like their wellbeing fund, which is processed relatively quickly. They have "breaks" for Christmas and 4th of July which give you full weeks off.

Cons

I have never worked at a place that is more discombobulated, whose solution is for you to spend an endless amount of time in front of your computer. In busy season, an abundance of last minute tasks, handed out late in the day, that require you to stay late (even if you had other plans).
