Pros

Solid talent at the Manager / Senior consultant / Staff levels. Good benefits. Limited travel to client site.

Cons

Coming from another big 4 firm, I have to say that EY was generally less well run -- terrible internal employee tech (don’t get me started on the expense reporting platform) and poor employee comms (e.g., it took a week for the firm to formally address the news reports that Project Everest was dead). EY hired a lot of people right before the economy turned, leading to stiff internal competition to get staffed and pervasive “shadowing” (i.e., putting resources on projects full time to do real work but not crediting them billable hours). I saw leadership tolerate/ignore mistreatment of resources by certain senior managers and partners. Not every group is toxic but “buyer beware.” Finally, EY severance packages in the May 2023 layoff were underwhelming. Just one month of severance for an internally promoted manager who had been with the firm for over 4 years? Yikes…
