Pros

Game theory says that signaling has to be expensive in order to be honest. Glassdoor ain't that. Take a look at the turnover rates on the prominent career-oriented social media platform to see how long folks at ECM last; or rather don't. Recently re-introduced a 401k match .

Cons

Passive aggressive CEO who has no regard for cultivating a positive company culture. From the top, the culture is very combative. He emails out weekly homiletics across the company often launching on digressions lamenting employee "passive aggression" or other personal spats. Overwhelmingly male workplace where female ideas are either ignored, shot down, or taken and repackaged by men and only then celebrated. Ladies, expect to suffer things such as forceful language from heated men, questions as to why you aren't smiling more, perhaps getting referred to as "young lady", on top of much other colorful language and behavior that is not acceptable a modern work environment. Depending on where you are in your career, if you are able to find some male minders to take you on, you may be lucky enough to be shielded from the worst of it. Next to no educational resources for employee self improvement. The $1000 that does exist and is mired in red tape. I've never seen management so unwilling to invest and level up their employees. People work there for years with zero mobility. HR and payroll are outsourced to the VC who owns ECM and the two obviously do not communicate. Be on the look out for paycheck problems and monitor you paystubs. Frequent churn at such a small company means lots of company pivots, missed deadlines, and an unclear product/ company vision. Top management does not use the product themselves. It's obvious many have never even bothered logging in to the platform. Documentation requirements are asymmetrically enforced. If you are not in management's favor, expect to spend days writing drawn out documentation. If you are, little or none is required. It's mostly used as a cudgel.

Pros

Still some good, kind, and fun people here... but not for long.

Cons

This organization took a disgusting turn in 2020. It went from an exciting, energized environment typical of a small tech company to what is now the most unprofessional, inhuman work environment I've ever experienced. If you aren't a white "yes" man, I'd advise you not to work for ECM. Misogynistic "boys' club"; white male CEO appointed in 2020 by a micromanaging VC full of more white males. CEO is passive agressive and unable to have a direct conversation, aside from when he's complaining about and badmouthing employees to their peers. Too many meetings that include too many upper management/senior level employees rather than the experts on the topic. There's a lot of talk about doing things without the input from those who do them. Meetings to plan for meetings while minimal progress is ever made. Salaries are far below market value, especially if you aren't a white male. Merit increases, bonuses, and opportunities for career advancement are disproportionately awarded to white men. Hyper-focused on meaningles SEO metrics and growth hacking rather than providing a great product to their customers. Project objectives and goals are not set up front, often inefficient and mismanaged so weeks or months of hard work ends up being thrown out. They've lost countless high-caliber employees because executives refuse to listen to honest, productive feedback nor will they take action to correct patterns of poor performance and behavior. Poor benefits.

Pros

There are a couple good people still making the best of the company

Cons

A company with a product that isn't working out, so it's based on tricking customers into paying for it before finding out they don't have refunds. They have a top-down organizational structure that's as archaic as it is inhuman. Each week, a new instruction would come in from the VC group on some small thing, like how to talk to people internally. It enforces a culture of fear, and each management level perpetuates that as well. People work there for years without mobility within the company. The worst company I've ever worked for.
