-Senior leadership often came across as very inexperienced, making statements such as “data doesn’t matter” when speaking about the customer demographic. The inexperience and lack of direction made it impossible to get everyone on the same page as far as the brand and who the customer was. It’s easy to point fingers at the buyers, which many certainly did, but the direction starts from the top. -I experienced inappropriate comments and upsetting interactions that were gender-based. For a company that boasts having a female CEO and preaches inclusivity, that was unfortunately not my experience. -Poor pay and PTO. The company relies too much on “culture” to keep employees happy, but “culture” doesn’t pay bills. -Little to no resources for the buying team. Including planning/allocation, legal, quality/compliance, etc. Honestly I’m not surprised there were so many quality and copyright issues during my time there. People were quick to point the finger at the buyers (notice a trend?) , but refused to look at the bigger picture. We were working bare bones and doing our best with the resources we had, which was not much. Maybe it was fine when Earthbound had 10-20 locations, but for a larger company the way it’s set up right now is not sustainable.

After being hospitalized for 2 nights for being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes I was told by my manager that she was taking away a large portion of my hours as a way to punish me for missing the days they were doing store inventory - and we were in no way short of staff. I was someone at the time who always filled in for anyone if they called out sick or wanted a shift covered because I wanted the hours and was a hard worker for the store, being promoted over a fairly short period of time from a part time sales associate to a key holder to assistant manager.
