Pros

There are lots of really good people at Eastman. This company provided a living for my family for many years, for which I am so very thankful.

Cons

Eastman continues to regress in valuing its people and treating them right. I have seen some very talented and decent people (both professional and hourly) treated terribly wrong by the company. The company's line is always silence (and I understand the necessity of that), but they absolutely will not make right when they are wrong (which is more often than you could imagine. I have had direct reports royally screwed by HR and I couldn't do anything about it). I have witnessed a few good people ruined without just cause. Having said that, this is probably true with just about any company you work for, however, I have witnessed Eastman getting worse over the years, and it really saddens me.

Pros

Pay and benefits are competitive, even excellent in some cases. Some of the work, goals, and teams are interesting and engaging.

Cons

The pace and load of work has become excruciating. Management has become demanding with little to no consideration or compassion for the emotional well-being of their employees. Rushing to the next emergency effort to keep the dividends up has replaced thoughtful, well-planned, courageous team-centered leadership. Punishment and fear have replaced forward-thinking, employee-promoting, coaching and development. You are solely responsible for your mental, professional, and project health. This means that if you succeed, you race to the next project. If you fail, you will be "held accountable". This attitude is now pervasive within operations and technical support areas and is toxifying the teamwork that has made this company great in the increasingly distant past. Their company face is slick-marketed, but experienced, dedicated, caring people are being driven from the company at a sickening pace, leaving the operating and engineering core fragile at best.
