Performance-based ranking system threatens collaborative company culture
Pros
A large percentage of the people who work here really enjoy their jobs, and are pleasant to work with. Many roles/supervisors are supportive of maintaining a good work-life balance.
Cons
The new performance-based ranking system is causing Eastman's collaborative culture to deteriorate. The work environment is becoming more competitive. People are afraid to take on ambitious assignments or try new roles because they would risk receiving a bad ranking, simply because the job wasn't a good fit for them. Good employees receive "unsatisfactory" rankings because they work in a group of top performers, and their supervisors are forced to rank every employee from top to bottom. Eastman's pay is not good enough to justify this type of work environment, and our benefits get worse every year.
