Pros

Decent benefits and alternative work schedules are allowed.

Cons

Unethical upper management behaviors, frivolous travel expenditures of upper management, lay-offs have become all too common.

Pros

The people at Eastman are some of the nicest, hardest working people I've ever had the opportunity to work with.

Cons

Responsibility and accountabiliy are ever increasing upon middle and lower management. In addition to the heightened sense of accountability, we are given more and more directives, goals, and tasks, however the support staff, funding and resources are not provided in order to either keep the people safe nor achieve the goals we have set. Eastman has a lot of great 'ideals' and 'acheivements' they share with the world, but within the gates we are all burdened with more work than we can handle, are asked to raise the concerns which we do, and then are told to work 'more efficiently.' At some point if this company is serious about keeping people safe and acheiving world class chemical company goals around safety, reliability, asset integrity etc, it will need to provide the staff, capital funding, and knowledge rentetion to enable their people to do this. It a great place to be surrounded by wonderful people while you burn yourself out trying to meet unachievable goals and expectations.

Pros

The work life balance is fantastic, depending on the area and manager. Overall the greatest asset is the people, and teamwork environment. Compensation had been above average for the industry but since the pandemic, it has become more middle of the road. The 401k match is still great.

Cons

Senior management has made it clear that they really don't care about compensating people enough to make them stay, and when people do leave their spots remain unfilled to save money. The company has official policies that hiring and promotions to management aren't based off of performance. Morale has declined and is at all-time lows. Political propoganda is often force fed to employees. People are scared to speak up or share their beliefs, which is reflected in employee surveys. Leadership then requires everyone to go to 're-education' seminars assuming the fear to speak up responses are coming from some fringe group, which reinforces the anxiety.
