Pros

All good policies in US. Other countries employees are treated like 3rd world countries.

Cons

No growth. No vision for the next 5 years. Short term focus.

Pros

Very good people work here and most are experts in their jobs. At the exception of management, employees tend to be friendly, exactly what you would imagine from a small american community.

Cons

1) Not opened for diversity, most management comes from the US and has no clue about cultural differences, this company is everything but global and is not willing to change on this aspect. 2) No respect for people, management feels entitled to yell and humiliate employees, I guess they do the same at their kingsport fastfood if they are not happy with their cheesburger, it is a question of education... sad ... 3) Micromanagement is so present that it should be part of core values, I have seen the very top get involved in operational matters and mess it up. In the meantime the titanic is sinking 4)Kingsport... unless you were born there or are escaping a war zone, why on earth would you live there? 5) If you ever wondered why Eastman is well ranked on GD just google Kingsport... yes ... there is nothing else, people have no other choice... sorry they do, they have the fastfood and the grocery store 6)Given its current poor performance, Eastman will be a prey for other chemical giants and in this very competitive world it means big synergies for an overstaffed company. Big diet still to come.

Pros

Low pressure sales system Excellent opportunity to travel nationally Value in person sales over cold calling Very liberal with product samples and demonstrations

Cons

"Do as I say, not as I do" management leadership style. Training program consisted of listening in on phone calls. Consistently denied opportunities to invest personally in the company - not taken to trade shows/ US corporate meetings and events. Given smallest sales territory by a massive margin and actually increased sales by a considerable percentage but constantly criticized based on relatively low numbers in comparison to the those of the other reps.
