      Eastman Chemical acquisition of Solutia, Inc.

      Pros

      After a long history of being Monsanto, then Solutia, when acquired by Eastman a year or so ago we were welcomed warmly and with open arms. We feel like part of the family.

      Cons

      There will surely be bumps in the road, but things are progressing nicely.

      Pros

      It's a stable, traditional corporation with thousands of employees worldwide. Depending on your team and if your managers like you, you can grow and succeed.

      Cons

      In the same way, if you are liked, things will go well; if you aren't part of the "favorites team," there is nothing you can do to change your status. Growing will be very difficult, and the company will find many reasons to gaslight you into thinking you aren't deserving. They have a great speech when it comes to harassment and bullying, however, the truth isn't as nice as what they say.

      -The regular, working people are competent and generally nice to work with -Development through role moves is supported -If you know how to negotiate, compensation is good

      Cons

      -Lack of long-term strategy, everything is bet on new PET plants and other businesses take the hit through cost management -Executives & leadership are not held accountable, you can make a nice career if you know how to manage upwards -Claim to be international but really just an American company with offshore operations which shows in the internal culture
