Pros
This company is driven by innovation and is a great place for an Engineer to build a lasting career. The teams are fun to work with, and people enjoy their jobs. My favorite aspect is the relatively small feel of the organization, compared to the actual size. They are big and stable, yet have been able to hold onto some of the simple aspects that make startups so fun to work for.
Cons
There are some aspects of the organization that haven't quite adopted industry standards. In a way that is why they have been so successful as reducing bureaucracy though, so it is worth the hassle. Additionally, this is not the place to work if you plan on warming a seat, Echostar wants staff that jump in with both feet, work hard, and push the company to greater success. Health benefits don't really stand up to most companies, but then again are less expensive. If you put the balance in your HSA (as they recommend) it levels out, but if you take planning upon yourself you can shoot yourself in the foot.
