Pros

The focus is on a 40 hr work week - no more, no less. This means that there is a rare opportunity to actually have work-life balance.

Cons

Benefits are sub-standard for a aerospace company. A single, high-deductible plan is the only offering with the company paying less per month than the employee. I have never before seen a plan where rates are nickel-an-dime'd down to the child, eg. employee + spouse + child1 + child2. Education benefits exist on paper, but the company does not promote a continuous education environment. Certifications are not supported unless your local department can afford to pay for it as "training" (which does not happen), and a second degree (aka career change) is not allowed. I saw a previous Glassdoor comment and couldn't agree more - "The corporate culture is driven from the very top down to be extremely frugal at the expense of making smart decisions. The company is afraid to stray too far from its core of satellite technology." I would take that a step further and say that there is a fear with moving outside of their current customer, let alone current technology. Middle-management is too busy with internal fiefdom building and infighting to allow the company to be dynamic and agile enough for new business. Maintaining the status-quo is a higher priority than setting up for the future.

Pros

If you are just out of collage good company to get started as you will be given responsibility pretty quickly.

Cons

Once you start going higher up leave for greener pasture. Also compony is not loyal to employees who are there for long term. Satellite business is dying so don't spend too much time.

Pros

Relatively stable. When you leave for the day, you can forget this hole a until you have to come back. 4 on 3 off work week.

Cons

Management is pretty bad. I mean extraordinarily bad. This the type of place where as long as your not involved in any kind of personal error, then you are doing great. This leads to people doing nothing, and when they do do something and it turns into an error they blame someone else. Wear Kevlar at this place, for the daggers will come from behind much more than the front. The worker bees are generally good people, but the culture forces them to eventually turn on one another.
