Pros

Compensation is average and it is a fairly laid back place to work. The work can be interesting at times.

Cons

Benefits are very very mediocre. 401k barely matches anything. Everything seems to be taken away from healthcare with no real incentives to actually improve health such as gym compensation or help with quiting smoking, little things that could actually improve an employees health are not considered if they cost anything at all. Many of the projects also seem to have no real direction given from upper management when needed, they are very in the moment with what has to be done and many times do not consider the larger picture before hand.

Pros

Co-workers at my level are great, committed and positive despite working conditions. Commute for me is good. Stability of the company is good. Free satellite.

Cons

Poor health benefits. Poor leadership from the top. Poor quality facilities: working environment sucks, one of the biggest perks since I've been there has been the advent of new vending machines. Poor software development lifecycle, no impluse to improve. Widespread disdain for upper management, up to the point of manipulating results to keep them from knowing what's really going on. Folks who have been there for a long time are cynical, which is a negative influence on new people. Negative feedback loop.

Pros

Coming fresh out of college you learn a lot about embedded software engineering. The people are great and the work environment is fun.

Cons

The health care and pay are terrible. The health care is so bad that you question whether you would even go to the doctor considering you have to pay full price. A friend had a wife who had cancer and when Charlie decided to switch to the new plan, they were over 15k in debt within one month. Also Charlie still makes you pay $200/month for it. Everyone is leaving because of this. The development group is always under pressure, working long hours, and gets blames for everything. Moral is at an all time low. Pay is 15-20% below market. The average turnaround for an engineer is 5 yrs.
