Pros

Company car, paid phone, gas, work attire. No one watching over your shoulder 24/7.

Cons

Company will reduce everyone's pay at the first whim of economic or shareholder trouble. The job has a difficult learning curve (a part of the job that I liked, but can be a real challenge at the beginning).

Good Company, Bad Management

Pros

Benefits are good and location is easy to get to. Non-management colleagues are great to work with and generally helpful. Work/life balance can be hit or miss depending on who your boss is.

Cons

Lots of middle management all trying to make a name for themselves. Too many projects to execute effectively with no chance for project restructuring. Too many pet projects from senior management that should be stopped in phase gate process. Lots of "tellers" and few "doers" in management. An incredible amount of micromanagement. Poor global infrastructure in place to execute global project effectively.
