Great people, terrible management.

Pros

The work is fairly stable and the culture is relatively open to experimentation and innovating. Most of the people were great to work with. Typical small business benefits.

Cons

The management is kind of terrible. You can't trust what they're going to say in terms of raises or career development. There's little transparency which I believe is needed with a small company. I question the ethics overall. There were times where my health insurance was temporarily suspended due to lack of payment.

Pros

Innovative, customer-oriented, forward-thinking company with a great reputation in the industrial marketplace. Flexible work hours and opportunities to grow within the organization for those interested. The company is always open to adopting new practices and technologies to better serve customers. Relationships with clients is very good, overall.

Cons

As with all small companies, there is a question of whether somebody will fit into the culture, but it is a friendly place to work, generally.

Small company politics

Pros

It's a start if you're early in your career. You're able to gain experience with web technologies and project management.

Cons

No professional training or continuing education. No industry standard software or anything that cost money. Decent computer and office supplies difficult to acquire. Small family atmosphere and the politics to go with it. May have your paychecks delayed and health insurance temporarily unpaid.
