Pros

As a young professional you will learn an immense amount of tools for successful media relations, writing and how to adapt to each client's needs. Your growth is dependent on your hard work and managers are more like coaches that want to see and help you succeed.

Cons

Edelman does not reward the hard work of it's employees with appropriate compensation. The long hours it takes from employees to make Edelman a top agency doesn't seem to factor too much into the equation for management. Many employees often feel overworked, overwhelmed and underpaid.

Pros

Richard Edelman is a true, respected thought leader in the field of PR and the company does a great job informing and educating all its staff about the company's vision. Edelman encourages employees to embrace the changes in the practice of PR and gives them opportunities to develop their skills.

Cons

Office politics and gossip, while inevitable, can sometimes make the office a negative environment. Staff departures aren't always handled well. Workloads aren't spread very evenly, leaving some staff overworked while others have lots of free time.

Pros

You will learn a lot about media lists, media relations and social media while working here. This knowledge is very valuable. You will also learn a lot about office politics, which comes with a price but could be valuable eventually. Overall, the ultimate “pro” is that you will walk away with a major name in the PR industry on your resume.

Cons

To name a few cons, Edelman Seattle is full of poor management, favoritism and toxic people. If you are not a favorite of the general manager, upper management or HR don’t expect to get a promotion, a raise or even be heard when you have an issue. If your manager feels at all threatened by you and your talent, you will be demeaned in front of upper management and clients, not promoted for reasons you will only find out during your review and will be positioned by your manager as “not meeting the mark” (regardless of meeting/exceeding client expectations). Some other cons include low pay, long hours and very little appreciation.
