Pros

Ahead of the curve in new technologies and the direction the industry is taking. A place you can be proud to work -- high profile clients and great work; a place you can shine. Easy access to senior management. Work/life balance varies but is not unlike any other agency. In-house training is important and available to all employees at all levels. Competitive compensation. As an independent agency without stockholders to consider, they are willing to do investment spending on new offerings to keep themselves cutting edge.

Cons

Very little communication within the agency as a whole. You know what's happening in your practice area but not in others. Not a place for everyone: to be successful you need to be aggressive.

Pros

Work for great Fortune 500 clients with interesting PR projects. Had the opportunity to work on things that we cutting edge and drive measurable results for the client. It is the best company in its field and the perks are great. Since it is a privately-owned firm, it still has that smaller structure feel. Not too bureaucratic in process and procedures. Great benefits for a larger firm. Summer hours were given as full comp days so most could take them because early summer hours were hard to take with the amount of projects at a time. Great place for someone just starting career in PR.

Cons

No work/life balance, sometimes put in over 60 hours a week; lack of enough junior staff to support workload. Too many tasks with too little people to implement. Not very diverse in its workforce. Deadlines were unrealistic on most projects and required long hours and even holidays. Top management was poor in communicating employee expectations and feedback on projects. Management would commit to more projects than team was able to implement at one time. Account people were responsible with all aspects of business including monthly billing sheets which would take up to a day to complete depending on number of projects in process.

Pros

the members/folks in the tech practice, were cool

Cons

Waste significant amount of time working on PPT slides for new biz...and therefore very limited amount of time to do real work. Need for giving new people time to ramp and support current and new biz, not enough grace is given...if you are not billable, what value do you provide... Management and nepotism, very evident, only seem to benefit folks if you are liked among the group. There is a clear need to work on the optics.
