Pros

nice office, nice location, some competent employees, good reference, top clients, good projects, always pays on time, free taxi when working past 10 pm, free breakfasts on monday wednesday and friday.

Cons

low pay, long endless working hours, too many clients or projects per person, new sales pitch pressure, "odd" managing partner, "unreasonable" HR, incompetent top managers & directors

Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn foundational PR skills, but very much a huge organization with little chance to really shine or stick out without killing yourself. Everyone there is truly best friends with each other and you get to work on cool clients and projects.

Cons

Work/life balance is nonexistent and you track your time, so there's a lot of pressure to spend 40+ hours per week actively working on some project. Edelman is desperate to keep client business and won't push back on egregious asks or overservice. Pay is awful.

Pros

You get to work with impressive clients with interesting work, and it's a great place to build your career and skillset.

Cons

Since Edelman was my first job out of college, and only job for the first 5 years of my career, I didn't know any differently. I thought every company treated junior staff poorly, had long hours with little pay and felt uncomfortable in their work environment on a regular basis. Now that I have taken a step back from this atmosphere and changed jobs, I am saddened that I allowed people to treat me the way they did for so long and put myself in a position to feel so suppressed/timid. I couldn't make real connections with people because of the hierarchal structure, I was scared to speak up on calls or in meetings because of the internal pressure and level fear, and my work felt grueling and inefficient. At my new job at a similar type of company, I am treated like a human being and truly valued for my work. Because of this, I am doing the best work of my life because I have the confidence, constant encouragement and support to do so. Edelman has a lot of potential to allow their workers to do their best work on really important projects, but the culture and toxicity from senior leadership seems to be getting in the way more often than not.
