      Great company, bad timing

      Pros

      The people are great. They are fun and real. Also, there are some fun happy hours and out of the office activities.

      Cons

      The pay is not great. Also, due to the sinking economy, Edelman is hesitant to hire. These leaves a lot of the employees with a larger than normal workload. There is a definite need for new hires, but until the economy changes, the employees have to work longer hours for less pay. From my experience, it seems that senior management and upper level management at Edelman doesn't do much actual work. All of the work is transfered to lower level employees, stressing them out even more.

      Not a terrible place, but sure wouldn't go back

      Pros

      They offer decent pay if you play a little hard ball; they have typically decent benefits as a large company; working at a "big name" PR agency always looks good on a resume.

      Cons

      Machiavellian management, tends to be a sweatshop, various offices do not support one another, very difficult to change practices or offices within company; a few smart people, a lot of "yes" men. Mgmt doesn't encourage independent thinking that will really benefit the client.
