Pros

It's a privately held company which offers a really solid foundation and creates a culture that allows for mobility. The team here is solid, no ego, and it's a really balanced lifestyle.

Cons

The company lacks racial diversity, and they bonus based on the entire company performance and not individual.

Thank you for your review. I share your desire to see more racial diversity in our leadership ranks and will do all that I can to work towards that. I'm proud of the progress we've made with women in leadership positions over the last several years. Today, 80% of our regional presidents in the U.S. are women. Pros

Challenging work. Good benefits Exposure to different clients and streams of work. Creative environment with creative problem solving. Overtime pay Edelman is successful for a reason.

Cons

Long hours + Low pay Poor culture; very passive aggressive to your face and VERY aggressive behind your back. This seems to be the case across different practices. No one really likes their job, even if they are quite good at it (which says a lot about how the company is run) VERY political Difficult to know who to trust across the practice High pressure the majority of the time Very much a "sink or swim" culture Every assignment is NOT a high priority, but they are treated this way Leadership is lacking - you can be a strong leader without being mean or belittling people.

Pros

Some of the smartest, hardest working people you'll meet anywhere. Very type A and ambitious. Independently owned (no holding company). Entrepreneurial spirit is authentic. Excellent maternity and family leave policies.

Cons

Still trying to figure out what kind of agency they want to be and how to operationalize those ambitions. Finance runs things -- it's like trying to do creative work at Goldman Sachs. You will be persecuted literally to your father's hospital bed to submit your timesheet. Offices in NYC are drab and open plan with limited spaces for collaboration, meetings, or private calls. Culture is competitive but represented as collaborative. Negotiate for the highest possible salary and do not believe HR when they tell you bonuses are paid every year -- they are not.

My goodness. I'm very sorry if that timesheet example was from your real life. And I agree with you that operationalizing our vision in a fast-moving industry is an ongoing challenge.
