Pros

The CSM team was great. Too bad the company keeps driving them out

Cons

The company is entirely run by the investment firm (Vistria), and all decisions are handed down based on their demands. This results in a toxic work environment and trickles into all aspects of the company. I personally witnessed and was subjected to unethical business practices and tactics at the direction of upper management in attempts to secure purchase orders. Upper management doesn't have any interest in the sales rep's professional integrity or customer relationship, they are simply trying to please Vistria Capital. The comp plan is convoluted and extremely low-paying, even at and above quota it's well below what other companies provide. Because there are so many hoops to jump through to "unlock" the higher percentages, it is also difficult to achieve under even the most favorable circumstances and best individual efforts. This is by design to avoid paying out big bonuses to the sales team except under the rarest of circumstances. The products are stale and ineffective, and thus not in demand in the market. The majority of business comes from their credit recovery products, which do meet a specific need for schools and students. However, that's generally a fairly static number for schools YOY and so it becomes a very transactional sales process. The other products in the portfolio are either outdated, ineffective, and/or insufficiently robust to position against competitors. Onboarding was nonexistent. I would say their onboarding was terrible, but that would indicate they had any onboarding structure at all. They provided a spreadsheet with a list of online modules to take, and nothing more. The high turnover of sales and CSM is a clear result of the lack of investment in their people. Finally, all their lip service about caring about students is pure garbage. The only people in the company who truly care about improving student outcomes is the CSM team and most of the sales reps. Upper management, ownership, and certainly not Vistria Capital are only interested in their own paychecks. (which are substantial. Pretty shameful when you look at their AWFUL compensation for sales and customer success)
