Substitute Teacher

Pros

Really easy scheduling, incredibly flexible. They have quite a few resources to make finding openings easy.

Cons

As a substitute teacher, you won't always get the best treatment. It really is about building a report with the schools, teachers, and students. I worked about four months in K-12 and was able to find two school districts I was comfortable at, where I knew the staff and students were able to recognize me. Some schools just have negative teachers, who are always rude to substitute teachers and act as if they are entirely incompetent, so maybe just avoid those ones as much as possible.

Pros

They keep in contact with e-mail but respond to questions quickly. Had no problems with payroll, paid bi-weekly.

Cons

Being they service many districts, you only meet the main office employees, owner, when they do a new employee workshop, for signing you up to be employed by them. So, the office is not close by. It is school year pay, so no unemployment during off times(by a state law)
