Pros
Support of other BOAs across the region and country, good work-life balance if you are matched with a good FA
Cons
Super low pay…I came in at the highest end of the pay range when hired and could still barely make it. I have no idea how those on the lower end survive. Some BOAs with profitable FAs get large bonuses (IF, and that’s a big IF they decide to share with you) while others don’t get anything. You could have one get over $5000 per trimester and another get nothing for doing literally the same thing. That is huge and the firm counts that as well as why compensation is competitive, but it’s not. The health insurance is terrible. It has a huge deductible and the firm offers an HSA but they pay so little that it’s difficult to impossible to fully or even partially fund it. The insurance was a huge reason for me leaving. I now pay 5x as much for insurance but still only pay 1/4 of what I did at Jones for total healthcare costs including premiums. Crazy, huh? Oh, and their insurance is a self funded plan with customer service reps who are clueless. If you ever have an insurance problem, be prepared to spend many hours over many days on the phone trying to get it fixed.
