Pros

Autonomy. EDJ's structure allows a person to work as an individual, as long as money is being made. Branch managers are located in the home office and no one is forcing me in the office or making me stay until a certain time. Also, EDJ does a really good job of offering investments they feel are most appropriate and cost-effective for retail investors in the long-run. Investors are truly thought of first.

Cons

If being an advisor is not your final calling, then you'd have to relocate to St. Louis to seek growth within the firm (which is probably likely for most broker-dealers). Also, EDJ disguises itself as a firm that's "solely" focused on "helping" people reach financial goals in a warm and fuzzy way. Mostly, that's true, but the "bottom-line" is what it's about when it's all said and done and you will be out the door now matter how many accounts you open per month.

Pros

Entrepreneurial environment with access to resources, tips, and tools for success. Industry recognized training and license preparation. 100% control over all aspects of business development. Superior product partner relationships.

Cons

Challenging business model for established adult/family lifestyle, i.e., more conducive for individuals with minor living expenses and little (or shared) responsibilities.

Pros

Good Training. Up front on how you get paid Supportive culture if you are performing Run your own office without worries of overhead expense. Office hour flexibility, but most people need to work at least 50hrs/wk

Cons

LImited investment options. They Promote Solutions based approach, but can't be compensated without selling something No fee based platform, new managed account platform with no flexibility(they call fee based) Very sales and product driven, can't always do what is best for client if you want to get paid eventhough EDJ gets paid. Very Very inflexible Pay is terrible first few years for 90+% of advisors. Again honest on how you get paid lied about how much you will make in first few years.
