Fast Growing Company with Lots of Positives

Pros

Strong company growth, offices throughout the U.S. Employees can often transfer (you gotta ask, people!). Company benefits are good; ECI deposits an unheard of amount in employee HSA accounts (your choice of HSA or traditional plan - employee premium is paid by the company for either plan). Dental and vision are bundled into the plan. Profit sharing allocation is generous and has been made every year without fail. ECI became a 40% ESOP about five years ago, so employees are owners (again, 100% company paid). In late 2021, private ownership (the portion of the company not owned by the ESOP) was opened up to a significant number of employees. And the new private ownership wasn't just restricted to senior engineers and management - employees from all departments of the company were included. There are lots of company-sponsored events (Christmas party, summer party, lunches, Engineers' Week, Pi Day, etc.) Upper management is extremely accessible for a company of 750. Anyone can directly call the president, CEO, CFO, etc.

Cons

The workload can be heavy. ECI is very customer-oriented and management tends to bend over backwards to try and make crazy schedules and/or budgets work for clients. This can be to the detriment of employee work-life balance. As at most places, some managers are simply better than others at steering their teams and managing the work. ECI is a conservative company in a conservative industry. Change comes slowly. But on the positive side, I've seen more changes happen in the past 2 years than the previous 8 - including implementation of a remote work policy, an effort to reduce employee work hours and the addition of paid parental leave, all of which were due to employee requests/needs.

Pros

Small team allows for a lot of good communication, and a tight knit group work.

Cons

Work fluctuates a lot. You will go from endless piles of work to nothing to work on in a matter of days.
