      Pros

      There are a lot of opportunities if you're smart and determined.

      Cons

      Your work experience entirely will depend entirely on your divisional management. You get a good VP, and the company culture on your team can be incredible. Then, all of a sudden, the company decides to merge a bunch of department together and consolidates the management structure. Now you're working for an evil and vindictive person who decides to fire any senior staff who disagree with her in the slightest. This creates an environment of fear, one where creativity and ingenuity go to die. Oh, and the technology backbone of the company is ancient, constantly goes down, and is to blame for countless mistakes and issues.

      Pros

      Good Benefits, Work Life Balance, That's really it now - go back about 7 years and this company was great lots of challenge and room to grow

      Cons

      Outsourcing, not honest with employees, too many layoffs of experienced dedicated employees, no room to follow career goals if those goals aren't what management thinks you should be doing, getting too large too fast, losing too much talent too offset costs of mergers and acquisitions, isolation of IT to VA and GA

      Very flexible work arrangements, very talented and nice people (not including senior management), exciting work, exciting industry

      Cons

      Anthem does not really ever innovate, senior management is cold and often makes decisions that negatively impact incentive compensation.
