Pros

Good pay and benefits if you are into the hosted solutions world. Good company to take a little knowledge and get some crash course experience. Don't expect any sort of training. Pay was good but several stop and starts on raises.

Cons

Hard to say as so many. I worked for the company for 15 years as a on-site IT consultant. When the company "history" started as Collegis it was a great environment. Lots of sharing of info from corporate, lots of communication and several onsite visits from the regional manager and corporate tier two support. I went to some sort of training at least once a year. The Sungard buyout brought all the support and cohesiveness across the distance to a complete halt. Now they owned several higher education applications and Collegis was software agnostic onsite support called "Managed services, not a good fit. But in the field the onsite consultants more than 75 % of the personnel and only %50 of the profits kinds of got forgot about. The distance actually reduced the number of visits and buffered us from the twist and turns of corporate, so much so that we stopped attending the "all-hands" conference calls they just wanted to tout the greatness of Banner and Banner online. The client site I worked at is not Banner. Sungard to Ellucian now it is my speculation that SunGuard found a way to offload "managed services" to Datatel (now Ellucian) again the miles and now merging of two software companies wasn't bad enough the managed services is now relatively reduced to nothing. I did not receive any formal tech training for YEARS. When I finally had the opportunity to stay with my site after the end of the contract I jumped at the opportunity and have now recieved more training and opportunities than all 15 years with Collegis, Sungard, DataTel, Ellucian.

Pros

Benefits. There is a handful (not more) of people that are fantastic to work with.

Cons

Training? not from the company. You are expected to self-train, no matter what level you are. Then, when you can't guess their processes and procedures, they tell you you don't do enough. Management lives in their own little world, thinking they are doing a great job, then feeling offended if surveys repeatedly come back negative. You are rarely provided with any guidance.

Pros

Some of the nicest coworkers you will ever have, fair pay and benefits, really good customers, ability to work on products and services that positively affect people's lives

Cons

Out of touch leadership, the company talks about "student success" but only measures revenue and margin, very long hours, antiquated technologies, inability to define market segments the company won't pursue for products, lots of talk about being a cloud company but not really a cloud company in the slightest, huge employee turnover
