Pros

Elsevier is a very old established company so you do not need to worry about them going out of business. They have a good training program available if you choose to participate. The work week is only 35 hours and they encourage you to schedule your work week so you do not have to work Friday afternoon.

Cons

No clear direction, frequently pass over internal employees for outsiders. Benefits are severely downgraded. Only a high deductible insurance plan is available. Disorganization at mid manager level is pervasive and the company is very siloed.

Pros

Colleagues are knowledgeable, professional, hardworking and willing to help. Salary and benefits are competitive for this market space. Large organization with professional growth opportunites

Cons

Too many layers of management creates a difficult environment from and internal productivity standpoint. Multiple products overlap benefits and functionality which creates internal competition and confusion in the market. Products and content are solid but Elsevier's primary benefit remains in the Publishing sector and lacks knowledge in the technology space.
