Pros

You will have the opportunity to work with some truly wonderful and talented people. Remote work opportunities. Work-life balance and flexibility Benefits

Cons

The CEO Lack of leadership or middle-management Inconsistent application of core values High turnover No opportunity for growth Believe what the other reviews say about the CEO. Expect him to consider himself a subject matter expert in every aspect of the business. Expect to be micromanaged, disparaged, and told you don’t know anything about your field of expertise. His leadership is weak at best, in my opinion. Priorities change constantly. If you bring this up, expect to be told you just need to be able to pivot. He will turn on his executive team at the drop of a hat, so don’t expect them to protect you. And as an added bonus, any discussion of your difficulties with other coworkers will be considered talking behind his back and is a fireable offense. The company doesn’t empower people to lead. There is no middle-management, and a senior title means nothing because there is no power associated with it. There is only the CEO, executives, and everyone else. There is no opportunity for growth within the company. You will likely have to take more work on than your job title calls for, and you will not be rewarded or compensated beyond pithy praise. I’ve never worked at a company with such high turnover. People get fired all the time out of the blue. Though you will be expected to recite the core values at company-wide meetings (like a third-grader must with the Pledge of Allegiance), don’t expect those core values to mean anything. There is no communication, and I mean NONE. You’ll still sit through countless meaningless meetings that don’t add up to any valuable information and won’t get the information you need to know what is happening across the company or how it will affect your work. The company innovates by chasing down what competitors are already doing. Any passion you may have for the job is squelched by changing priorities and micromanagement. Don’t bother honestly voicing concerns as nothing will come from it.

Email On Acid Response

Thank you very much for your feedback. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts regarding your time with us at Email on Acid. As I mentioned in another comment, I take full responsibility for the experiences you had while working with us. There is no one else to blame for the poor experiences than me. For that, I truly apologize. You're absolutely correct, we have an amazing group of people here at Email on Acid. I am incredibly grateful to have an opportunity to work alongside them every day. We certainly would not be where we are today without everyone's hard work and the contributions they have provided. You have offered some amazing feedback. You have encouraged me to think about how we can better communicate information throughout the organization so everyone is well informed and how we might be able to better facilitate our meetings so that we are providing more actionable and valuable information. I’m listening to your recommendation to empower a board for further accountability. I'm going to put some thought into how I might empower our current Advisory Board to accomplish that outcome. Thank you again for your candid and invaluable feedback. John Thies CEO/Co-Founder

Pros

Email on Acid has passionate, friendly, and hard-working staff. The environment is very supportive of career and professional growth. As a result, the expectation of each employee is high performance. There are plenty of company perks to reward such highly performant work, such as Free Lunch Fridays, open PTO, and many company-sponsored events to name a few. While no workplace is perfect, Email on Acid is a great place to continuously learn and take on challenges. The working experience at EoA can be described as such: "Chaos in the world brings uneasiness, but it also allows the opportunity for creativity and growth." -Tom Barrett

Cons

As stated above, the environment can seem and most definitely be high pressure at times. These times of high pressure come and go in waves, but can feel highly rewarding for making it through.

Pros

Good co-workers with real talent, decent benefits, Friday lunch, great market to be in

Cons

Management is impulsive and short-sited, employees are degraded and talked down to, basic lack of respect, lack of support from management in basic functions. Employees are not trusted to be experts on what they know and CEO has final say on everything. Even topics he is uneducated on/hired you and your team to work bring solutions for. Don't expect support from management when you're having problems or frustrations. My experience was having blame placed, being forced to accept it (regardless of your involvement in the actual issue or facts suggesting otherwise), and leaving with even more frustration and a target on your back. Long-term employees treated extremely poorly, in front of the entire company at times. This is the most unhealthy work environment I have encountered in my career.
