Staff are very underappreciated

Pros

Benefits are good, generous time off, students are creative and vibrant, co workers are smart and engaging. Great area to work in downtown.

Cons

Bad apples get to stay far too long. Administration doesn't appreciate/thank/value staff at all. Pay raises are stagnant and do not cover cost of living increases. Money gets funneled to avps and vps, worker bees get nothing except to watch more high level jobs get created.

Pros

If you're a self-starter, you will go very, very far, as that is the primary means of job growth. There are a lot of opportunities to get more responsibility, more projects, and more knowledge. Very tightly-knit community of workers. The benefits are very good.

Cons

Very bureaucratic. Like most higher education environments, you must move mountains to get projects implemented, even if they make sense to everyone involved. There's very little top-down leadership, but there are a lot of tasks and projects handed down from the top with the expectation that they'll get done no matter the cost. Work-life balance can suffer because of this.

At the end of the day this is a buisness

Pros

Working with awesome colleagues in various offices.

Cons

Everything else. Leadership is weak and ineffective. The priorities are either misaligned or a closely guarded secret that it creates low moral among staff. Business decisions are made at the expense of student support, and staff are left to pick up the pieces after leadership makes those decisions.
