Bad onboarding process

Pros

It's a relatively stable company if you are able to take the stodgy silo culture and strong matrix organizational structure.

Cons

Not the best onboarding and training program, and if you can't cut it, despite being ill-equipped, the company will kick you out the door very quickly.

Pros

- Great people to work For. The culture is very friendly and people are easy to get along with. No fear to ask the dumb questions. Small company feel for a large corporation from a culture standpoint. - Always learning new skills as long as you ask for it. The company is willing to invest time into your career growth. Projects use the same products, but the project process always feels a little different. - If you are efficient enough at your job, most team members will encourage you to ask questions, and learn what their role/skills for projects. - Great work/home balance. Most weeks are a typical 40 hour week with the occasional long work weeks whenever at site or testing. - New hybrid work schedule whenever not doing in-person testing or site work is great.

Cons

- Typical large corporate ladder structure which is slow to climb. - So many procedures, and so much paperwork for projects. Sometimes you feel more like a paperwork engineer instead of doing actual engineering work. - This is a global corporation, so sometimes (depending on the project and resource location) you have to work odd hours for meetings with team members. - Emerson global seems to be more of a cold cooperate entity compared to what you find in the local office. This clash in culture can make working with other offices very difficult. - This office seems to push people towards management roles instead of heavy technical roles.

Really appreciate the insights and feedback. Regardless of size, a company should strive for simplicity. We can do this, too!
