Pros

Job security - If a steady paycheck is what you're after, look no further. Good intentioned management - I've met very few people that aren't good people down to the core. Good upward mobility - If you work hard, you'll get noticed and promoted. It's not hard to succeed here financially.

Cons

No need for innovation - They are a very mature company with products that will likely sell for decades with little to no change. This results in little need for forward thinking or innovation. Just keep the well oiled machine moving. Work is sparse at times - There have been 6 month periods where I had little to no work to do. Even when asking around, not much changed. It came to a point where I was hoping to get laid off because the boredom was too much. Bloated - There are way too many people working at Emerson. Most of them doing very very little. I would estimate a 3rd of the employees could be laid off with little to no efficiency hit. Boring - The company is just boring. The products they sell are boring. The culture is beyond boring. The overwhelming majority of people that work here are 40+ with little interest in socializing in or outside of work.

Spin off of ENP Mess

Pros

Prior to spin-off ENP was a good place to work, lots of challenges and decent working relationships between groups.

Cons

During spin-off evaluation lots of back stabbing, fear, rearend kissing, and overall management negativity toward employees. If this is any indication of the future it is time for anyone who wants a future with trust and communication to bail. ENP is taking work away from internal employees and giving it to outside consultants. Short-term savings and long-term pain. Fastly becoming a company of the blind leading the blind.

Pros

Friendly people and love to stab you in the back.

Cons

Under staffed with low pay, management takes advantage of personnel, terrible management, my worst place to work in the past 30 years. I had to work an extra 5 to 10 hours without pay per week for 4 years to keep up. Then after I finished a major successful project they fired me for not showing up for work because I missed a few days that was out of my control. I even had a week of vacation to use. They did not need me anymore because I finished the project that they are selling 50 units per month and making tons of money on it. Very poor company if you ask me. They will use you up and spit you out! Beware!
