Pros

The company is often located in some nice areas, although that of course depends on exactly where you work. Emerson is a big, international company, so there will be opportunities for advancement across the company if you pursue them hard enough. Emerson is a very stable company and in general conservative, so you probably don't have to worry about volatility in the market nearly as much.

Cons

The pay seems to be at the low end of the range for companies in general. I think you end up trading stability for compensation. As a consequence, Emerson doesn't attract the cream of the crop in terms of employees. That doesn't mean some great people don't work at Emerson, but it's a consideration. The product lines also aren't that exciting. In this case, you trade stability for excitement.

Pros

The product training is excellent. ASCO affords you the opportunity to travel around the country, whether it's to attend trade shows or take part in different types of training.

Cons

This is an archaic company that has (and will continue to have) a hard time retaining young, educated professionals. If you're someone who likes to punch the clock at the same time everyday and collect a steady paycheck, then this is the place for you. If, on the other hand, you're someone who wants to advance your career and be compensated fairly for your work, then ASCO is the wrong place for you. Despite what is said about "opportunities for growth", there really aren't many. The compensation is rather poor in relation to the workload, and management does a very poor job of replacing people when someone leaves.

We continue to lose employees because of low pay, Management brushes it off as we are in the middle of our industry and everyone complains about pay. We are also forced to burn our vacations, early retirements, Restructure of profit sharing with a gaslighting scheme,
