Pros

Decent pay. Up to 5 weeks vacation with tenure. Plenty of available overtime if you enjoy such things. Clean shop, air conditioned, decent safety program.

Cons

Stuck in 1983 with regard to manufacturing practices, tenured employees will fight and sabotage you to keep it this way. Lack of resources (bring your own software). Culture of workaholism. 13 days on, 1 day off is essentially expected (2 Sundays off per month). DEI, Cancel culture. Dead end job, they will dangle a carrot for top performers and take advantage by perpetually increasing responsibilities with no additional pay or path to promotion. Once they understand that you have figured this out your days are numbered.

A Woke, Siloed Giant Losing Sight of Efficiency and Synergy

Pros

Emerson Electric has a strong legacy in industrial automation and electrical products, with a broad portfolio and a solid global presence. The company benefits from technically capable teams within individual business units, and its name still carries weight in many markets.

Cons

The company seems increasingly focused on performative “woke” initiatives that feel disconnected from customer needs and core operational goals. Internally, Emerson is highly siloed, with limited collaboration between business units. This isolation leads to inefficiencies, including the persistence of redundant products and overlapping technologies. Additionally, the lack of strategic alignment between brands diminishes Emerson’s ability to deliver a cohesive market impact.
