Low Pay

Pros

Flexibility Tuition assistance Decent benefits

Cons

Pay is low compared to industry or government positions. It is almost impossible to live in Atlanta with what is paid for mid-level positions. HR stymies fair pay commensurate with experience and lacks transparency in pay scale decisions. Some managers are awful and lack any sort of leadership training from HR. A lot of ossification at the top.

Great benefits but low pay

Pros

Smart and motivated colleagues. Excellent benefits (including employer matched retirement savings plan) and great paid time off policy. Possibility of flexible work options (work from home or hybrid). Lots of opportunities to change positions across the university. Plenty of opportunities to learn new skills.

Cons

Very low pay for a heavy workload. Base pay is controlled by human resources rather than the individual departments. Even if you exceed job expectations, raises are very minimal.
