Pros

Business casual dress code. Pay is better than many other area universities. Good retirement benefits, as long as you contribute at least a little bit (1.5%) for the match. Courtesy scholarship. Willing to spend money on equipment and services to get big jobs done. Health insurance is decent, but not as great as it once was.

Cons

Pay is decent for a university, but far below what you could get elsewhere. Courtesy scholarship has no value if your supervisor won't let you take the time to use it. Not willing to spend money on people - Little to no raises over the last 5 years. Crippling lack of big picture vision in lower and mid level management. Health insurance costs and co-pays increasing, choices for providers decreasing. Parking is very limited and very expensive - unsubsidized. Mass transit options are a joke. Staff have no input into the review process for their leaders so bad leaders are often immune to their own mistakes and good leaders may fall victim to bad leaders at higher levels of the organization.

Pros

- Great Supervisors who do not micromanage employees and allow us to create our own work flow for the day. - Good benefits (403b Basic contribution + Match, medical/dental/vision coverage). - Courtesy scholarship for classes taken at Emory. - PTO and Sick leave (although it takes a while to accrue).

Cons

- Little room to move up within research departments with other staff members with similar experience. - Underpaid for position (taking into consideration work experience and degrees). - Little involvement with PI's and their research staff.
