Pros

I had an amazing team and great PM. They seem to have a knack for hiring quality people, great at their job and who collaborate well. My PM didn't care when I worked, just that it got done. That led to some great flexibility, especially during the pandemic. I lived close to their office, but my PM didn't care if I worked from home (once it opens again) - again, only if work got done.

Cons

They're very old school, bottom line thinking in many ways. When it comes to deadlines on a project, all bets are off to get it done. They don't care if you have to work 80 hours, up til 4 AM the night before, etc. Which somewhat goes with the territory of what they do - but there's little appreciation for it. You're paid your starting salary and that's it. Speaking of - not sure they're the most trustworthy in terms of pay equity. Your colleagues who do the same job could be making significantly more or less. It seemingly depends on how much you ask for during the interview process? Benefits are very basic to downright bad. Finally, there's zero culture post pandemic. No all hands meetings, no CEO talks, etc. I spoke with someone outside of my direct team maybe 3 times ever in my year plus there. Obviously everyone being remote changed what culture they had - but it's been over a year, and they haven't adapted. Last thing - HR sent an email to me asking me to "contribute a positive glassdoor review" a month or so after I was hired. Felt a little weird to have that come from HR / makes me not trust all the reviews on here.

Thank you for your feedback. We always look for ways to improve and we are sorry you did not have a more positive experience. Old School Style- Everyone’s style is different and subjective. We do encourage current employees to make recommendations for process improvements and implement many of our employees’ recommendations. Deadlines- Deadlines are dictated by the client and we encourage all employees to meet them. We understand that there are times where people must work more than 40 hours per week. However, we are more than willing to work with staff if their work/life balance is impacted. We do try to hire developers who love what they do to meet the demands of our clients as we are client-focused. Pay and benefits- Our pay structure is based on factors such as education, years of experience, and the market of the location at which the person is hired. Our salary increases are based on merit and performance as we strive for excellence to support our clients. Concerning benefits, what we offer is competitive with companies our size and within our geographic area. We also review our benefits package each year and HR is open and solicits feedback from employees as well. We do encourage employees to be honest with recommendations for improvements and changes. Like many companies, APV does ask employees to share their experiences on social platforms. At no time have we asked anyone to share anything that they do not feel is true. Recommendation: in your next place of employment, we recommendation you share your feedback with management so that they can address your concerns.

Pros

It was nice having a remote job that paid well. My supervisor was always very professional and uplifting with a positive attitude.

Cons

Contract was really short, and there were no open opportunities available after I was done with the task order.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for recognizing the positive aspects of your experience with APV. We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the flexibility of remote work and appreciated the professionalism and uplifting attitude of your supervisor, those qualities are central to our culture. We understand your concern about the short duration of the contract and the limited opportunities afterward. Project-based work can sometimes present challenges in continuity, but your advice is valuable. We are actively working on improving internal mobility and creating more proactive pathways for employees to transition to new roles when contracts end. We truly appreciate your contributions during your time with us and wish you continued success in your career. Thank you again for helping us grow through your feedback!

Pros

The core team I worked with was lifesaving; we all supported each other to get our work done.

Cons

Working at this company offers a mixed bag of experiences. On the positive side, the president can be quite nice, which creates a welcoming initial impression. However, this warmth is often overshadowed by intense micromanagement that can feel overwhelming. The compensation is decent, but raises and bonuses are disappointingly low, which may leave hard workers feeling frustrated. Over time, this environment can wear down even the most dedicated employees. After spending several years here and eventually finding a company that truly respects and cares for its employees, it became clear that enduring this job was more of an abuse than a career opportunity. For those seeking a supportive and rewarding workplace, this company might not meet those expectations.
