Pros

Highly successful manufacturer and distributor of plastic products globally. Really stable company to be an an employee at, with year on year growth and further potential. Some very commited and passionate staff who are the spine of the business. Modern and comfortable offices with good facilities. Great place to learn about plastic manufacturing processes with some very knowledgeable staff who are willing to support and educate.

Cons

Directors in denial over their tendancy to micro manage multiple departments, limiting the organic growth of the business and their workforce. Some strange trust issues going on which results in little autonomy, responsibility or inspiration given to staff, resulting in a lack of cohesion between departments. Minimal career progression opportunities (department dependant). Opportunities advertised as an incentive during recruitment process, no process in place to honour this, thus high turnover of staff is a constant throughout the business. Project meetings often prove to be non constructive and tense, with a negative leadership style within operations leading to many rushed and illogical decisions, creating further interdepartmental frustration and resent. Clear communication from the top is commonly non exsistent in any format, with a knock on effect to the management and their respective teams. With few decisions recorded and agreed, there is no accountability placed on the owners or any key stakeholders. On topics related to staff pay, company policy etc. there is a disconnect and lack of consideration for the employees. The choice and tone of language can often be bewildering, demoralising and destructive to momentum and progression. A huge shame what you'll find beneath the commercial face of the business, so much passion, commitment and enthusiasm for multiple disciplines, unnecessarily wasted.

Thank you for your useful feedback on the company, people and working environment at A-SAFE. We are aware of some recurring themes in the reviews we get on Glassdoor around communication in particular. So this – along with empowering and equipping our employees to be their very best – is among some key themes for our future people strategy. We promote an entrepreneurial spirit at A-SAFE, where everybody is encouraged to put forward ideas and suggestions. People have the freedom to act and do their jobs as they think best. Where there is more management involvement, this may be due to an issue around something such as performance. It is our firm aim to help people succeed in everything they do for A-SAFE. We are proud of the fantastic growth we have enjoyed, as A-SAFE has gone from a family-run enterprise to the dynamic global business it is today. We know we couldn’t have achieved this without our people. We are delighted that we still have colleagues with us who have been here from the beginning and grown up with the business. We are also proud to have people who joined A-SAFE as entry-level employees only to develop and grow with us to become senior managers in under 5 years.

Pros

A-SAFE makes a decent product.

Cons

Do not walk but RUN from any opportunity with A-SAFE. When I say that this is the worst company I have ever worked for, it's not just my opinion. It should be the company motto. I knew I made a mistake working here when the sales coach was literally encouraging employees to start interviewing with other companies due to poor leadership and inconsistent messaging. This is one of those places that will constantly ask employees for feedback, but if you disagree with the way things are running they will find a way to get rid of you. The most toxic company culture I have ever been a part of. They try to instill fear as a leadership tactic so everyone is constantly wondering when they will be next on the chopping block. Ownership has no idea how to run a company, so every few months they make changes without any kind of real vison or direction. If you do feel stuck here, use your time to start updating your resume and find somewhere else that actually values their people.
