Pros

AMAZING management. Pleasant, reasonable, understanding of family/work balance. They are supportive and recognize/reward employees in various ways such as: positive reviews, verbal recognition, higher responsibility leading to advancement, and raises when applicable. This applies not only to individuals who go above and beyond, but also employees who do their best to keep improving. If you show up and do the job to expectation, or work to learn how, you will have a great experience working for ABM. (The pay was also 3-6 dollars above the current average for the position I had. And if you do your job every day the job is EASY and laid back. 60-80 percent of my work days I had hours between rounds to work on deep cleaning, and projects. As well as other tasks when I became Lead.

Cons

Honestly it's hard to think of a Con I personally experience with the exception of some Administrative type issues in Management. However both being a rather new site and management going through major staff changes I hesitate to call it a con. We were growing together and we were one of the only location outside of the cities. (At least in MN, with our client. ABM as a whole is in many states.) From my understanding some of the issues I experienced were not a problem for the larger close knit sites. Things that I think others may struggle with: it's not a M-F job, there's 3 different schedules that are available per seniority. You do still get 2 days in a row off. For those who enjoy overtime, there's rarely overtime and never really mandatory overtime. It's quite a bit of square footage . Again the job itself is pretty mild physical labor but it's A LOT of cardio lol. The site I was at was a warehouse and the safety policies for both cleaning bathrooms and cafeterias and being in the warehouse can be difficult to manage. Both ABM and the company we cleaned for had policies in place to keep staff and the client safe, it can be tedious and some people may prefer a different job. Again this isn't really a con for the company though.

Pros

Great people who don’t INTEND to cause harm. The company tries to do right by its frontline team members.

Cons

Everybody wants to outwork their co-workers to prove they should stay with the company. The company’s focus is completely muddled and confusing—when I was interviewed and hired, we were focused on facilities services. How did we end up with 98% of our focus on semiconductors, AI, and Data Centers? Eight months into my first year in the job, they did company-wide layoffs, increased our in-office days from 3 to 4, and gave me another person’s job (which I was barely trained for). For the next 7 months, the job became agonizing and torturous. I was expected to act as a director or executive, while being paid the salary and given the permission and ability of the lowest-paid on the team (which is what I was hired to be). The company has shady ways of getting rid of people and expecting everyone to act as if nothing happened. The culture has completely changed, as DEI is not the focus anymore, and it has become increasingly apparent. Finally, always remember, that for ABM, company margins are more important than the talent and people you hire!
