The aspects I absolutely love about ABS Kids: - my colleagues - the actual work with kiddos and their families

Cons

Why I've decided to leave: - ABS Kids does not recognize the value of diversity - The spirit of DEI is embodied, i.e., their productivity rubric does not consider (i.e., does not compensate for) the value of having bilingual professionals - Despite serving neurodivergent kiddos and their families, ABS Kids does not recognize or adequately support the needs of neurodivergent employees - Lack of professional development support (have to take PTO to attend trainings, no financial support for fees) - At the end of the day, while ABS Kids has a lot of potential for being a great company to work for, it currently falls quite short

ABS Kids takes diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging very seriously, and we have done real work to ensure our clients, families, providers, and staff are impacted by those efforts – from education on different cultures and therapy practices, to communicating to caregivers in their preferred language when possible (and current work on translation services from staff), and much more. We are also continuously working to give people of different backgrounds representation within our organization so that we may better serve our clients. That includes our neurodivergent staff and providers. This review is valuable insight. While we are sorry you are leaving ABS Kids, we can certainly relay your feedback to our executive leadership for their review.

I have truly enjoyed my time at ABS Kids and am grateful for the opportunity they gave me to begin my career as an RBT. The training was thorough, and the support I received while earning my certification helped me build confidence and skills. The staff genuinely care about the children they serve, and I had the opportunity to learn from experienced BCBAs and fellow RBTs. ABS Kids provided valuable hands-on experience, and I am thankful for everything I learned during my time there. I would recommend ABS Kids to anyone looking to start or grow a career in ABA.

Cons

As with many ABA organizations, scheduling changes and client cancellations can sometimes impact hours. The work can also be physically and emotionally demanding, particularly when supporting clients with significant behavioral challenges. However, these challenges are balanced by the rewarding nature of the work and the opportunity to make a positive difference in children’s lives.
