Pros

Location is good in downtown Boston, but that's about it. The downside is that offices and conference rooms are smaller and cramped. For company wide meetings, they have to hire temporary space (outside the office) but the company is trying to acquire additional space elsewhere.

Cons

If you are an employee with more than 2 years work experience, then this is not the company for you. Emphasis in their Boston headquarters for the past few years has been to hire recent college grads/co-ops/interns with no work experience. The reasons are because of cost (savings) without giving any thoughts on how it affects the products being developed. As a result of this policy, they do not value their experienced employees at all. Middle management (which is thoroughly incompetent) especially sees experienced employees as a burden. Due to this policy, if you take a walk in their offices now, you will see mostly co-ops and recent college graduates remaining. AIR Worldwide is a company more geared towards supporting co-ops and recent college graduates in terms of employment (who leave the company after gaining 1-2 years of experience). If you are already an experienced employee with more than 2 years experience looking for a place to grow your career - you will not find it here. Experienced employees face middle management's displeasure at every step, complete lack of appreciation as well as indifference and apathy. This has resulted in experienced employees leaving in droves.

We are sorry to hear that your experience with AIR was not more positive. Like a lot of companies in the high-tech arena, we sometimes find it hard to find the right people for the cutting-edge technologies we are working on. We do not favor recent graduates, but we don’t shy away from them either. We want qualified, productive people regardless of their level of experience. We continue to hire on an aggressive pace across all experience levels. A core purpose we communicate to all staff is our intent to help each person achieve their full potential at AIR. We are investing heavily in providing our managers the training they need to make this a reality. We are aware that we could do a better job in this respect and we are working hard in this area.

Pros

- Company has huge goals and aims to innovate all the time. This makes the work challenging and rewarding if successful. - If you innovate and improve processes, you will most certainly be rewarded - Managers will do the best they can to help you grow as long as you (1) do good work for them and (2) communicate your desires - Good mix of young and old people. Outdoor lunch patio. Pick-up basketball team. Go-to friday night bar right below office. - PTO is encouraged and grows yearly

Cons

- Software is so robust and complicated that fixing major issues becomes near impossible. - Sometimes they focus too much on new features when their old features still have flaws. This makes it increasingly difficult to fix old features as more features are piled on. - The problems stem purely from an organizational and planning standpoint. If they can do this better, we can manage our deadlines better and improve the product immensely.
