This posting is unfair to AIR. Let’s review the facts.
For purposes of this reply, we do not count the promotions in our offices in India, China, Beijing, or Singapore. If we did, the result would support our position even more strongly.
We assume the person who submitted this posting is referring only to promotions in our office in Boston. We recently announced 101 promotions there. 56 of them went to employees who are female or who are non-white. We are working hard to create and foster a diverse workplace. From what we know of other companies, we are far more diverse than most.
We do our best to ensure that our rewards and promotions are based on effort, teamwork, creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills. Gender and skin color are irrelevant to those considerations.
We also want to point out the AIR was founded by a woman. Her successor as president was a non-white male.
We have a number of coaching and mentoring options to make sure that everyone who wants to succeed at AIR has a fair shot at it. Can we do even better? Of course. We are very mindful of this issue.
