Pros

I cannot think of any pros. Maybe that you can be an overpaid leader and not do anything.

Cons

Do NOT believe these (clearly) fake reviews!! Good place, great place to work, etc. These are fake reviews they beg certain people to do. Ask for certain department's turnover information. Everyone leaves. They pay for these surveys no one takes seriously, like best place to work. It is horrible. Leadership doesn't communicate. HR doesn't communicate. They have so many people in these areas who don't do anything! People are hired and leave quickly. Constant revolving door. Stay away unless you enjoy: science company who doesn't like to innovate, working ridiculously long hours with zero recognition, enjoy having leaders take credit for your work and research, don't need money (pay is astronomically low and rumor is our raises will be even LOWER this year). No cost of living increases (they say they look at pay every year. Then when you ask about a specific role, "oh we haven't looked at THAT one". Then never get back to you). Benefits are garbage and they rant about how great they are. 401k & vacation is standard.. nothing to brag about.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
