Pros

Prior to starting work here, I've read some horrible reviews for the company. I think these can vary between different teams, depending on what department / manager you work for. For the most part, all managers and department leads I've interacted with so far have been great, so I haven't yet encountered anything to validate those negative reviews. In my time here, I've noticed that management has been putting in a lot of strategy and effort into making modifications to the workplace / work life requested by previous and current employees to make employment here sustainable and loveable. Many of those that I work with have been here for over a decade, and I can confidently say part of it can be attributed to the great people in this workplace. Generally speaking about the company: the benefits at the company are great (retirement and insurance), all of the employees I've met so far have been very helpful and kind, and the work environment is sustainable and encouraging, which is often hard to find in this industry of work. Compensation for the positions are also fairly competitive to those in the area, and there are many opportunities for growth within the company. The HQ in Manassas is very large and newly renovated (still ongoing renovations at the moment). The renovated spaces look great and provide much more comfort to those of us who have to work on-site (in person) daily. I would also like to add that some of the negative reviews previously posted on glassdoor claim that the company compensates those who write good reviews - this is NOT true at all. I was not incentivized or compensated for my review and have written all statements from my personal point of view. I understand that others may have had different experiences here, but I have not encountered any negative aspects of the workplace or the company as of now and think it's important to emphasize this to new applicants for the company. I would definitely recommend working here (from my personal perspective), and would suggest that you judge your interest in a position here based on your own personal interactions with the team you've applied to.

Cons

N/A at the moment, my experience at the company (so far) has been positive.

Pros

- Benefits are pretty good -People I directly work with in the labs are good at their jobs - Manassas Campus has a convenient grab and go food area which helps out when I forget to pack a lunch / don't have time to go out and grab something -Closed between Christmas and New Years

Cons

- Needs better coverage for mental health care - It seems like a lot of money goes towards administrative areas, while the lab wings are pretty cramped. It badly needs an extension with additional lab spaces. - Company recently changed from biweekly paychecks to weekly paychecks, which limits the ability to flex time, and being salaried, overtime is not compensated. -Can be very difficult to climb the ladder. Admin staff seem to be promoted more easily than lab staff. - Large reliance on paper records - Management tends to rush implementation of new systems before they're ready - Even with this being a non-profit, C-suite management makes multi-hundred-thousand-dollar salaries, and the old CEO was making over $2M in 2024 while not contributing much. It's hard to believe they're in touch with the common employee - Dragged their heels on implementing parental leave until forced to by law. HR loves to emphasize the small things they implement. -No leave sharing program
