Pros
Company is good about family emergencies due to death, illness & injury, hunting, etc. Benefits are Ok, but like previous review, there are tickets to the racetrack, monster truck shows and other events. The owner goes hunting every fall, so if you are family or close family friend you get to go on a week long trip.
Cons
Company lacks professional job descriptions/duties, manuals & procedures for employees. This is a loophole that CEO/Pres seems to like and I heard this over and over "if I have to tell you how to do your job, then, maybe, you shouldn't be working for me." This attitude leaves an employee without a clearly defined job or set of duties and raises were based on job performance. If one doesn't know what the job is, then, there is no way to perform to any measurable expectation. Raises then become difficult if not impossible because the job constantly changes without any notice. I'd seen work given out at the discretion of the CEO/Pres to employees who were not qualified. There are also many in the management circle who were hired to positions without any education so the CEO/Pres can "mold & mentor" them. This is admirable but its at the expense of the company and other employees. As for education, the CEO/Pres himself is not college educated and there is an atmosphere of disdain for those who have college education. Women, noticeably, (even though they are mostly more educated with degrees) are only in the bookkeeping, answering phones, shipping, or factory positions. There are no female managers/decision makers and most are kept out of the related gun companies. Few to no incentives for advancement and few pay raises depending on who you are. I was told by many other employees when I hired on that favors & privileges were granted to those who were family, close male friends, hunters and gun fanatics. I didn't believe them at first, but it is true. This is a good company if you want to come in do your daily job and simply exist for a paycheck. Many of the factory workers have been there for 10 yrs or more following this routine. However, if you have aspirations, creativity or intelligence, and want to advance or be happy working, the negativity, competition, and poor management will quickly drain you of hope. I so, don't waste your time on this company. The previous review was very correct in its assessment of the management and ownership. Company, according to its own accounting manager, is having financial difficulties and one other related company, I was told, had no money to support its debts or payroll. Maybe this is a temporary state, but exercise caution.
