Pros

The best part of my time at the company was the team I worked with, including both my peers and managers, as well as the colleagues I partnered with across other groups. Their support, camaraderie, and willingness to help one another were the reasons I stayed as long as I did, even as the broader culture began to decline.

Cons

Adswerve does not offer compensation or benefits that are competitive with the wider market for software engineering roles. It is understood that companies focus on profitability and meeting quarterly goals. That is reasonable. The issue at Adswerve is the inability to pursue those goals while maintaining a healthy and stable workforce. The company is currently struggling financially, and in the second half of my employment this became increasingly clear. That reality, paired with below-market pay, influenced my decision to leave. The company’s public messaging has also grown increasingly disingenuous, emphasizing people-first values and DEI commitments that do not align with the day-to-day experience. Even if engineers may feel somewhat insulated due to the value of their work, many colleagues in other teams are left feeling uncertain about their job security. This sense of instability affects the entire workplace. I once found Adswerve’s retention rate impressive, but the rising turnover became impossible to overlook. Economic downturns and layoffs happen, yet there is a limit to the indifference and poor management a workforce can reasonably absorb. After learning about the most recent rounds of layoffs, I felt it was important to share this review as a caution to others.

Pros

They are a Work from home company

Cons

Beware: Many of the negative reviews are accurate, which is likely why so many of them have been marked as “helpful.” The culture here is extremely cutthroat, and management often does not have employees’ best interests in mind, even when it may initially seem that way. “Feedback” often feels less like support and more like documentation that can later be used against you. Even asking questions can sometimes work against you. Billable hours are treated as the top priority above all else. Employees are still held accountable for utilization targets even during periods when there simply is not enough work available or when accrued PTO is taken. I understand the job market is difficult right now, so if you do decide to work here, make sure you protect yourself, document everything, and keep records of important conversations.
