Pros

A great store team will make or break your experience with this company. With a typical retail hierarchy, your advancement opportunities are largely dependent upon positions being vacated by others. Advance provides frequent, if basic, training on simple automotive systems, but some background automotive knowledge goes a long way to helping you succeed.

Cons

Beginning mid 2012, Advance began to push towards either private sale or external acquisition. With that came the new push toward sales performance and accountability. Following the GPI (Carquest) deal, 2014 has brought new standards that tie your sales expectations to your salary. After three months of not meeting at least 85% of your sales target, you're eligible for termination. Be forewarned: if you don't sell hard and do well, you won't survive.

Pros

A lot of schedule flexibility

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism/bad management, especially in the DC that I work in. (DC-41)

Pros

It’s a pretty easy job, very fun people to work with. Hours as a driver are pretty consistent.

Cons

The pay isn’t great. It would be nice if the drivers were making at least $17 or $18 an hour. Also benefits don’t extend to health insurance only dental and vision if you are only considered part-time. Anybody that isn’t the GM, CPP, and RPP are considered part-time, regardless of the hours you get.
